What is ellahewitt.com?

I was born on a Thursday. Specifically the 22nd of the 11th month in the year 2001. Similarly and completely unplanned, this website was also born on a Thursday: Thursday 17th October 2024 to be exact. I was sitting in Bold Street Coffee (ironically not on Bold Street) following another 4am late night working. My new go-to drink in hand - well, on the table, was an iced chocolate.

I was researching for my podcast on fast fashion when I came across a website so old it looked like my GCSE IT project. The article I read was quite complex so I was pleased to see a YouTube video embedded and proceeded to discover a whole channel of a woman covering fashion history (which made the old-aesthetic site make sense). This small chain of events led to a new idea strand in my brain, thus completely interrupting my research and stalling my scriptwriting. I thought “maybe I should have a website?”. Immediately, I went to ask for some solid advice, from someone who knows a LOT more than I do… ChatGPT

Longer answer short: Yes.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you build a website like Beyoncé or Inthefrow:

And well 5 months later, coding now learnt, here we are…

Despite sharing so much of my life, thoughts, and personality online (an eye-watering 1000+ posts in 2024 alone), I still feel like a huge segment of my mind is missing. From my insane ambitions and dreams, I have emerged into having a highly focused business orientated mindset. I read tons of books, constantly learn and research making good videos, building a brand, and being a good person. Everything I do is for my future, I think about my vision every day and have the next decade of my life imagined. I wanted to create this website to collate all of my work in one centralised location, and in doing so build my own platform to share my voice— free from an algorithm and perception.

This website is 100% an actualisation of my creative visions. I have poured my heart into making this a happy and inspiring place, to tell my story, share my achievements and proudest work. Everyone I’ve mentioned this to has sort of looked at me confused “what’s it for?”, “why do you need a website?”.

I believe this website will help people to get to know me, whether you’re a brand or a follower, you can see inside my brain. Back to my past famous start on socials, to how I’ve used some of those foundational skills to build my own brand. You could say this site gives me credibility, removing the numbers and society’s opinions in place of my creative vision… my type of CV ;)

I have no doubt this will evolve into something larger over time, as I get new ideas and my ‘vibe’ changes, so will this site. I’m excited to be launching a blog, my own platform to post written works. Some say it’s a dying trend, but I find it refreshing to dedicate a few minutes, or hours to read. It’s a blessing so many of us take for granted, and in a 30 second world of viral videos and TikTok sounds, I love stepping out with a book, magazine, article, or newsletter to appreciate a clever pun and consume something other than brain rot.

Expect deep dives into ideas, reviews of my favourite shows, curations of fashion I’m loving and way more philosophical discussions. You may find that the blogs link to the pods- a way for you to be able to save and reference the important ideas/tips I give. Ultimately, writing is another creative avenue I’ve missed exploring! Being the scriptwriter at Luxe was my obsession. I fell in love with the feeling of picking up a pen (yes sometimes I wrote them- How Shakespearean of me!). But after I left, I no longer had a platform nor need to write. Whilst I have been journalling and typing away in private, I think the ideas I usually explore are a side of me I want to share more.

The last segment you see is Shop. A manifestation of my future perhaps. If you keep up to date with my stories on Instagram you may know my lifelong dream of building a brand. Something I’ve already started, it’s been years in the works just to get to this point and that’s before any products (I’m talking about my videos alone right now). One day, maybe this site will become a host for that vision. Until then, the shop tab takes you to a closet full of my favourite outfits, ride or die skincare, wish list items, and commonly requested links. If you’re ever looking for something of mine, you’ll find it directly linked there.

With all that being said, I do hope you enjoy exploring this site. Even if nobody is reading, I have loved every second of this project over the last five months, it’s been unexpectedly healing and nostalgic to appreciate my career so far and I’m just proud to be here. Thank you, genuinely, for taking an interest in me, I hope that I can inspire you to become your best self and join this journey of achieving our dreams.

If you’d like to be notified when I post a blog or add any secret updates to the site (like exploring a photoshoot concept or video behind the scenes) you can subscribe to my newsletter below. I promise not to spam you- that’s not my goal here at all.

I feel like I should’ve come up with a cool sign-off by this point. Would you be surprised if I told you it’s once again 4 a.m.?
Leave it with me as something to think about. In the mean time, I’ll see you in the vlogs!! ily

Ella x
