fashion month
From New York, to London, to Milan, to Paris. Fashion Month happens twice a year. In February we have the Fall/Winter shows, and in September it’s Spring/Summer. Add on Menswear, Haute Couture, and other cities fashion week it becomes confusing. That’s where Luxe came in, to covering every event and show Fashion week to those not invited/sat front row.
Since I was young I’ve always watched the shows. I’m not sure where the obsession started, but with the platform I had at Luxe, I wanted us to become the biggest provider of Luxury Fashion News. Alongside our history videos, covering the industry’s latest antics was a huge part of our DNA- therefore covering fashion month, alas from home, was a must.
During the busiest times of year, when the calendar was filled with hundreds of shows, we produced videos daily covering the events. Our independence as a company enabled us to speak freely without fear of offending brands/advertisers.
My favourite show of all time was Pharrell William’s Debut at LV. I remember lying on my bedroom floor at home watching it and writing the script (watch my vlog here). I cried, and when I got into the office in the morning, Ben said it was the best script he’d read of mine to date. I remember when he filmed it the SD card corrupted and he had to do it again, time was of the essence so I scrambled to edit it in one day before my event that evening (for my own @ellahewitt TikTok).
Once finished, I was so proud of it. I spent my whole evening replying to the 4000+ comments complimenting the storytelling, and emotion it provoked.
And that, that is what fashion, and the extravagance of fashion month is about- community and conversations in admiration of art and creativity displayed.
I hope one day I get to experience that in person.
Where it all started…
